The Honda Civic is the line of compact cars manufactured by the Automobile giant Honda. The Honda Civic is a major competitor to the Toyota Corolla, and is capturing the market with speed to become one of the most popular cars in the world. You are bound to be mesmerized by its looks and want to drive one back home. It is a ride that’s going to give you an adrenaline rush.

The Civic has undergone several changes both in the body and other specifications in it's history, the car has become more up market recently.

Introduced in 1972 as a two door coupe, and then modified to a hatchback the same year, this car had very good engineering with a 1169 cc engine along with a front wheel drive.

This car has a very good interior in spite of its small dimensions. The earlier form served the basic necessities such as a rudimentary heater, cushioned plastic trim, painted rims made of steel with a nut cap made up of chrome.

The newer model has become much more luxurious with good air conditioning, leather upholstery and a six speed manual transmission.

Besides all this, it a fuel efficient car which is also very environmentally friendly. The newer iterations are well known for their sporty look and drive, such as the Civic Si and the Civic Type R.

Designs and interiors

This car is a love at first sight. It was earlier feared if the low ground clearance would be suitable for roads in a country such as India or not.

But the looks are indeed subjective. The front of the car resembles the Accord, with skirting and big 5 spoke alloy wheels which gives it more of an Italian look. The rear of the car is also of a muscular type. The car has a designed mono form sport body. This means that the ratios adopted in the design of the car reduces the angles and provides enough space to integrate a multiplex instrument console. The interiors are very radical, though it misses a  trip computer.

The current version is the eighth generation Civic successfully running on the roads and it has been rated highly for its safety by the US government and passed as good on both frontal and side impact crush tests.

For the year 2009, the Honda Civic is due for a facelift, with a slight redesign both in the front and rear of the car. There will be an addition of a Bluetooth compatibility device for hands-free phone operation and an optional leather wrapping on the steering wheel in the LX model.
